INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPETITORS OF MEDVEDNICA TRAIL 2024

We are just a few days before the race, so we bring you all the most important information you need to know:

Distribution of starter packages

The distribution of starter packages will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 2-6 p.m. at Prisavlje 8, Zagreb. The distribution area is located in the Trčaona premises on the ground floor of the building, and the entrance is on the west side of the building, not the residents’ entrance. Zagreb Run flags will be placed in front of the entrance.

Competitors who are not from Zagreb can collect their starter package on the day of the race at the INFO tent in the start/finish area of ​​the race.

IMPORTANT! When picking up the starter package, you must bring your ID card and show the mandatory equipment! If you are picking up the starter package for someone, then you must show us that person’s identity document (or a photo on your mobile phone) and the mandatory equipment of the person for whom you are picking up the starter package. Without the mandatory equipment, you will not be able to lift the starter package.

Mandatory equipment

You must have the prescribed mandatory equipment for the race. In addition to checking the mandatory equipment when collecting the starter package, this year we will also check the mandatory equipment during the race (randomly selected competitors will have to stop and show their mandatory equipment to the race staff on that section), and for the first three fastest M/F, we will check the equipment immediately after crossing the finish line. All those who do not have the mandatory equipment during the check will be disqualified.

Mandatory equipment for competitors on the 60K, 45K, 30K courses is: ID card, start number with chip, mobile phone (included with charged battery and saved organizer number), refreshment glass, water bottle/bottle with liquid (min 0.5l), set first aid kit, astro foil and a whistle.

Mandatory equipment for competitors of the 15K course is as follows: ID card, start number with chip, mobile phone (included with charged battery and saved organizer number), refreshment glass, water bottle/bottle with liquid (min 0.5l) and first aid kit.

Competitors who compete in the 5K course must have: an ID card, a starting number with a chip and a mobile phone (included with a charged battery and saved organizer number) .

Start Location and Time

The race takes place in Medvednica Nature Park, with the start and finish location at Hunjka meadow, near the Mala Hunjka restaurant.

Arrival by Personal Vehicle – Parking

Due to the functioning of public transport, parking of cars at the Hunjka bus interchange will not be allowed.

There will be stewards at the race location who will direct you to the parking location, please follow their instructions.

We urge you to carpool and come to the race with as few personal vehicles as possible since parking space is limited.

IMPORTANT! Plan enough time to reach the start by car. For example, from Mihaljevac to Hunjka meadow, it takes about 30 minutes under normal conditions, but considering the expected increased traffic due to the race, plan for more time. Start your GPS navigation today and check how long it takes to get to Hunjka to ensure timely arrival.

Arrival by Public Transport – ZET

We urge you to come to the race by public transport.

Arrival at the race on Sunday, May 26, 2024. is also possible by ZET public bus line number 140. 

Due to the beginning of construction at the Mihaljevac terminal, the bus stop location has been changed. The departure stop for line 140 Mihaljevac-Sljeme will be on Ksaverska cesta, near the military ordinariate (opposite Jandrićeva ulica) (https://bit.ly/Google_Maps_140), while the final, exit stop will be on Ksaverska cesta at house number 113 (former sports hall) (https://bit.ly/140_exit_stop).

Refreshment Stations

You can find the schedule of refreshment stations in the announcement of each of the course 60K45K30K15K, 5K.

There will be no cups at the refreshment stations; refreshments will be poured exclusively into bottles or cups that competitors must carry with them. Competitors must ensure they have enough liquid and food throughout the race.

Hot Meal

All competitors will receive a coupon for a meal in the starter package that they can use at the race. Lunch will be served in the start/finish area from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Two options are offered:

  • Meat meal: beans with meat
  • Meatless meal: vegetable lasagna

Children will be offered Bolognese-style spaghetti for lunch.

Refreshment at the Finish Line

At the finish line you will find:

  • bottle of Smartwater water 0.6l
  • bottle of Powerade isotonic sports drink
  • fruit
  • salty and sweet snacks

Toilets

There will be chemical toilet cabins in the start/finish area.

Changing Rooms

At the race, we do not have organized wardrobe storage or changing rooms, but there will be a space where you can leave your things and backpack.

Children’s races

On each children’s race, boys and girls start and run together, but separate finish lists/rankings are kept – one for girls and one for boys. Parents cannot run with the children – children run alone. We have stewards on the course and the course is marked.

HGSS and First Aid

Members of the HGSS will be engaged in the race and prepared to provide first aid on the course in case of injuries.

In addition to the HGSS, there will also be a doctor in the finish area, so please approach them if needed.

The basic first aid kit should minimally include 4x band-aids, 1x sterile gauze, and 1x bandage, and it is recommended to have a richer first aid kit for self-help for minor injuries (scratches, minor cuts), and for all other conditions, you can call the emergency HGSS number +385 98 186 2871 or the organizer’s number printed on the race number. If there is no signal at that spot, ask a fellow competitor to notify the organizer at the next point.

LIVE! Results

Timing and processing of competitors’ results will be done electronically using chips embedded in each competitor’s race number. Therefore, please do not fold the race number to avoid damaging the chip on its back.

The race number has a QR code that you can scan with your phone after the race to immediately see your result and current ranking in the race. No waiting, no searching for the results page, and searching for your result – the QR code will immediately show your result.

The results of the race will be published on the website www.utrka.com/utrke/medvednicatrail/2024/rezultati/.
